About Dean Hazama
Dean Hazama, MPT, FMTF, FAAOMPT, is a California native and avid basketball player. He received his B.S. degree in Psychobiology at UCLA and his Master’s degree in physical therapy at Azusa Pacific University. Mr. Hazama started his career working in acute rehabilitation at Centinela Hospital in California. Most of his career has been spent working in the orthopedic setting in private practice.
A great majority of his professional education has been through the Institute of Physical Art. Dean received his certification for Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) with the highest overall score during testing in August of 2003. Mr. Hazama continued to seek more mentorship and made his way to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
In Colorado, Mr. Hazama had the opportunity to work closely with Gregory Johnson. Dean completed his fellowship in September 2005. Over the next 6 years he worked in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as one of the directors of the fellowship program. He moved from Colorado to New York to start a new fellowship program with the IPA in 2011. Outside of his incredible passion for physical therapy he has also discovered a love for the outdoors. He enjoys snowboarding in the winter and fly fishing in the summer.
