About Andy Kerk
Andy became a Certified Athletic Trainer prior to graduation from the Physical Therapy program at University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1983. He became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1989. His continuing education background includes extensive training in muscle energy technique and cranial mobilization at Michigan State University Osteopathic College, the spinal mobilization series from Stanley Paris, PhD, PT, and “Chain Reaction” from Gary Gray. He is also certified in trigger point dry needling from Myopain Seminars and incorporates this into his functional manual therapy practice. Mr. Kerk first attended Functional Orthopedics I with Gregory S. Johnson, PT, FFCFMT, in 1985, and eventually completed the full curriculum with the Institute of Physical Art. He completed his Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) credential with Honors in 1999. Mr. Kerk began teaching FO I in 1987, and continues to teach as a Primary Instructor of FO I, FOII and the Functional Mobilization Series. Mr. Kerk co-authored a chapter on soft tissue mobilization and neuromuscular training in Evaluation, Treatment and Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders, 4th Edition, published by The Saunders Group He also teaches and consults with physical therapists in the Wisconsin area in manual therapy and functional training of movement dysfunction in the orthopedic population. Mr. Kerk owns and operates a private practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, specializing in musculoskeletal dysfunction.
